On Sunday we bought Shiva Soundsystem’s cult, club-night Supersonic Buddha back for one night at The Victoria in Dalston. After three flippin’ years!
The last one was at Royal Festival Hall in 2017, so this time I wanted it to be a proper East London affair, at the back of a pub.
The announced line-up was pretty amazing with the incredible mega-star Shruti Haasan and esteemed poet Nikita Gill performing. I did allude to other live guests but what ended up happening that night was just extraordinary with Anoushka Shankar and Sarathy Korwar performing together for the first time and Riz Ahmed delivering a spoken word track from his new album.
I’m over the moon that it was such a special gig, especially as it was just before the lockdown. As D-Code said, “bro, how the fuck are you going to top that?!”
We’ve got some great video which I’ll add here once it’s edited 😀
Here’s the scrappy, ramshackle video. It was properly last minute, hastily put together but loads of fun. Just like the night!
